Inter-University Council for East Africa
Inter-University Council for East Africa
The Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) is a regional body established in 1980, evolving from the Inter-University Committee to foster higher education cooperation among Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. Now part of the East African Community (EAC), it is headquartered in Kampala, Uganda. IUCEA aims to network universities, discuss academic matters, and maintain internationally comparable education standards to boost regional competitiveness. It coordinates inter-university collaboration, supports strategic development of member institutions, and promotes quality higher education. With membership growing from 33 to 87 universities since 2000, IUCEA drives regional integration through strategic plans, aligning with EAC’s development agendas to ensure sustainable higher education for East Africa.
