University of Djibouti

The history of the University of Djibouti dates back to 1990. With strong support from the government, the University of Djibouti was officially established in 2001. By 2006, the university became fully operational and adopted a degree system (Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate). Currently, the University of Djibouti has seven faculties: the Faculty of Law, Economics and Management; the Faculty of Languages and Social Sciences; the Faculty of Sciences; the Faculty of Technology; the Faculty of Industrial Technology; the Faculty of Engineering; and the Faculty of Medicine. The student population grew rapidly from 461 in 2001 to 9,548 in 2017.
