Ain Shams University
Ain Shams University was established in July 1950 under the name “Ibrahim Pasha's University”. Alongside Cairo University and Alexandria University, it has fulfilled the mission of meeting the growing demand for higher education among young people. In 1954, the university’s name was changed to “Heliopolis,” and later that same year, it was renamed “Ain Shams,” which is the Arabic equivalent of “Heliopolis” or “O’n,” known historically as one of the oldest universities (dating back 5,000 years). Ain Shams University has eight campuses, 19 faculties and institutes, 200 departments, 113 centers and units, seven hospitals, and six medical centers with a total of 4,000 beds. The university currently employs 14,000 staff members, and enrolls 200,000 undergraduate students, 30,000 postgraduate students, 4,083 international students, 35,000 open learning program students, and 30,000 professionals. Ain Shams University’s vision is to have a global competitive advantage in innovative education, research, knowledge, and community service systems. It is an innovative institution dedicated to education, research, and service, aiming to cultivate graduates who are academically and skillfully aligned with the international labor market and community service needs.
