Higher Education Innovation and Development Conference ——Talent Cultivation Resonating with Digital Intelligence7th December, 2024 Shenzhen,ChinaThe conference was co-sponsored by Southern University of Science and Technology, UNESCO-ICHEI, Shanghai Jiao Tong University Institute of Humanities and Arts, and the committee of the Global Education 50 Forum, bringing together more than 150 leading figures, experts and scholars from higher education, science and technology, and industry. The conference established three thematic forums: "Reshaping the Ecosystem of Higher Education," "Activating the Core of Digital and Intelligent Talent Cultivation," and "Breaking Barriers in Industry-Education Integration." The event aimed to explore interdisciplinary integration and innovative education, foster multi-party collaboration and joint initiatives, promote cross-disciplinary cooperation and the development of innovative talent cultivation mechanisms, deepen the integration of education and industry, and advance the coordinated, tripartite development of education, technology, and talent.

"Higher Education Transformation in the Age of AI" – IIOE Global Partners Summit7–9 December 2023, Shenzhen, ChinaCo-organised by the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (UNESCO IITE), UNESCO-ICHEI, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), and Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM)—the 2023 IIOE Chair—the summit brought together around 200 participants from 28 countries across Asia, Africa, Latin America, the Arab region, and Europe. Attendees included influential higher education leaders such as ministry officials, university presidents, vice-chancellors, and international experts. During the event, the White Paper on Higher Education in the Age of Artificial Intelligence (Draft for Consultation) was officially released.

IIOE Roundtable Meeting
4-7 September 2023, Paris, France
UNESCO-ICHEI participated in the first UNESCO Digital Learning Week and hosted the IIOE Roundtable Meeting. The discussions focused on key topics such as strengthening digital competencies for university educators, co-developing educational resources, and integrating AI into higher education. During the event, the IIOE Micro-Certification for the Higher Education Teaching Personnel Project was globally launched. The meeting brought together experts, scholars, higher education institutions, industry representatives, global partner universities, UNESCO-affiliated organisations, and other stakeholders from Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Europe to explore the future of AI in education. -
International Higher Education Digital Transformation Conference28 February 2023, Shenzhen, ChinaCo-hosted by UNESCO-ICHEI, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), UNESCO, Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), and Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), the conference gathered IIOE partner universities, global experts, international organisations, and key stakeholders to share IIOE's achievements in empowering digital teaching practices worldwide. Participants jointly explored global trends in higher education digital transformation and discussed future directions for IIOE's development. The event also saw the release of the report: Building a Global Ecosystem for Digital Transformation in Higher Education – The International Institute of Online Education (IIOE) Three-Year Development Report.

World Higher Education ConferenceMay 2022, Barcelona, SpainHeld once every decade, the 3rd UNESCO World Higher Education Conference took place in May 2022. UNESCO-ICHEI was invited to participate. During the conference, the Centre organised: the UNESCO-Shenzhen Funds-in-Trust Africa Project Closing Meeting, IIOE International Roundtable Forum, the thematic exhibition titled "Co-Creating the Future of Digital Higher Education". At the roundtable forum, UNESCO-ICHEI launched: a multilingual teaching platform, a series of research outcomes on digital transformation, and Plans for collaboration with the UNESCO International Institute for Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean (IESALC).
