UNESCO-ICHEI participated and hosted SEAMEO Annual Centre Directors Meeting
During July 26th and 27th, 2022, the annual SEAMEO Centre Directors Meeting (CDM) was held in Bangkok, Thailand. The meeting was organized by the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) Secretariat and sought to facilitate SEAMEO member countries, affiliate member countries, affiliate members, and Regional Centres/Networks of excellence in collaborating with international organizations and private enterprises. Over 200 experts and scholars in the fields of education, science and culture joined.

UNESCO-ICHEI was invited to participate and host a parallel session on the morning of July 27th. Prof. Han Wei, Executive Deputy Director, and Mr. Lyu Feng, Assistant Director/Chief of IIOE Management Centre hosted the session. First, Director Prof. Li Ming delivered an opening speech through video, expressing his gratitude to all the guests for their support to UNESCO-ICHEI. He then reviewed the fruitful outcomes UNESCO-ICHEI has received working with ASEAN countries in the past six years. He also pointed out that, the Southeastern region being one of UNESCO-ICHEI's key areas of focus, UNESCO-ICHEI will continue to work closely with all to facilitate digital transformation of higher education in the region.
Next, Ms. Li Fan, Assistant Director/Chief of Asia-Pacific Programme Office shared in depth UNESCO-ICHEI's network and work in the Asia-Pacific region. Upon hearing her presentation, participants from Thailand, Indonesia, Viet Nam and Laos exchanged ideas with UNESCO-ICHEI. Not only did they express their interest in potential collaboration, but also offered suggestions. Some suggestions included how to promote International Institute of Online Education (IIOE) at a national level, and how to use IIOE to promote online and flexible learning. In particular, the director of SEAMEO Regional Centre for Higher Education and Development stated that she had been closely watching UNESCO-ICHEI's work and would be interested in working with us in conducting research on micro-credentials.
