UNESCO-ICHEI and TUIT signed MOU
On 18 April 2022, UNESCO-ICHEI and Tashkent University of Information Technologies named after Muhammad al-Khwarizmi (TUIT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to formally embark a journey of collaboration. The two sides will work closely to promote ICT-driven innovation in higher education and empower university teachers with digital skills.
Dr. Komil Tashev, Vice Rector for Scientific Affairs of TUIT, attended the signing ceremony and delivered a speech on behalf of Prof. Bakhtiyor Makhkamov, Rector of TUIT. He expressed his gratitude to Prof. Li Ming, Director of UNESCO-ICHEI and other representatives for their presence. He then gave a brief introduction of TUIT, especially its international cooperation on issues pertaining to talent cultivation and academic exchanges with a wide range of overseas higher educational institutions (HEIs), organizations and enterprises. Mr. Mingshun Xu, Programme Officer and Country Coordinator for Central Asia, in turn, introduced UNESCO-ICHEI's main ongoing projects and raised proposals on bilateral cooperation. Having reached consensus, the two sides officially signed the MOU.
At the signing ceremony, Prof. Li Ming pointed out that TUIT is UNESCO-ICHEI's first partner HEI in Central Asia. As one of the largest HEIs in the field of ICT in Central Asia, it has solid technical strength and competitiveness, and has accumulated a wealth of experience in international cooperation. He believed that this partnership in the form of joint projects and activities, as well as network resource sharing, will serve as a model for other HEIs in Uzbekistan and beyond.
