A Smooth Handover of Smart Classroom to Mongolia
On 6th January 2022, UNESCO-ICHEI successfully held a virtual handover ceremony of Smart Classrom at Mongolian University of Science and Technology (MUST), sponsored by CreateView Education Technology (China). During the ceremony, a project delivery document was signed between CreateView and the project recipient - MUST, which marks the successful deployment of the first-ever smart classroom in Mongolia and in Northeast Asia. The event was attended by Prof. LI Ming, Director of UNESCO-ICHEI, Mr. Paul Zhang, Chairman of CreateView, Prof. Ochirbat Baatar, President of MUST, along with important members of the project.
Prof. LI expressed his appreciation to Mr. Zhang for mobilizing various resources to carry out international cooperation projects in the field of higher education. He pointed out that the implementation of Smart Classroom at MUST is truly a case of international collaboration during the challenging time of COVID-19, and it will no doubt play a fundamental and critical role in teacher's ICT training at MUST.
Mr. ZHANG of CreateView accredited the success of this project to UNESCO-ICHEI's coordination MUST's full cooperation. He added that CreateView has upheld the motto of "building a world of educational equity through innovation", and participated actively in Smart Classroom projects in Nigeria, Uganda, Kenya, Mongolia, Gambia and Indonesia. He hoped that the team at MUST would benefit greatly from the resources provided by the Smart Classroom.
Prof. Ochirbat Baatar emphasized the importance of the partnership between MUST and UNESCO-ICHEI, and briefly summarized MUST's journey of cooperation with UNESCO-ICHEI, which can be traced back to May, 2018. In the future, he had high expectations for the IIOE National Centre to be established at MUST and looked forward to championing it as a national hub to promote and conduct a series of online and blended learning.
An inauguration ceremony of the Smart Classroom will be held upon the completion of a three-four months pilot. It will be held as one of the key events of a national conference on Higher Education of Mongolia in May, 2022.
