On 23 May 2019, the delegation of Ahmadu Bello University (hereafter as "ABU") visited Southern University of Science and Technology (hereafter as "SUSTech") and International Centre for Higher Education Innovation under the auspices of UNESCO (hereafter as "ICHEI").

Prof. LI Ming, Director of ICHEI and Dr. LI Xu, Deputy Director of Global Engagement Office hosted the delegation and participated in the meeting with the university representatives. Dr. LI Xu first introduced SUSTech's development and its diverse international exchange activities. She indicated SUSTech's willingness to collaborate with top universities in Nigeria in the field of higher education. Prof. LI Ming then welcomed the delegation and shared the ongoing projects conducted by ICHEI in Asia and Africa, such as university partnership, "Smart Classroom" project, and ICT capacity building activities.

Prof. Ibrahim Garba, Vice Chancellor of ABU said that they will enhance the collaboration with SUSTech and ICHEI in all respects. They plan to appoint representatives from ABU to participate in the 2019 Seminar on ICT Application in Higher Education for African Countries to be held in SUSTech. ICHEI is also invited to visit ABU in June.

ICHEI and ABU signed an MOU on further cooperation on staff exchange, ICT innovation, sharing resource and capacity building.

ABU is the largest university in Nigeria. With long research history in agriculture, engineering and architecture, ABU has been cradle for cultivating talents for Nigeria's development.
