On April 25, 2019, Mr. WANG Youming, Head of the Shenzhen Municipal Commerce Bureau, along with Ms. HE Zhimei, Chief of the Partnership Office, visited ICHEI and Center for Higher Education Research (CHER) at SUSTech. Professor LI Ming, Director of ICHEI, Professor ZHAO Jianhua, Senior Expert of ICHEI, and other staff received the guests.

Professor LI Ming first reported the work on capacity building seminars ICHEI and CHER have done since the beginning, as well as the next steps. After hearing, Mr. WANG Youming spoke highly of the achievement both centres have made, especially the high level of professionalism and standards. He encouraged both centres to continue to strengthen their work and develop a comprehensive system based on their experiences. Ms. HE Zhimei added that the cultivation of human capital remained a crucial part of China's foreign aid programmes. She believed that both centres would be able to continue to play a vital role in moving this forward.

Lastly, Mr. WANG Youming pointed out that, with the strong economic foundation, strong scientific and technological innovation capacity, concentrated high-end international industries, as well as the rich and high-quality educational resources of SUSTech, both centres would be able to carry out more high-level capacity building seminars, which would for sure further showcase Shenzhen and China at the global stage. Professor LI Ming expressed his willingness to work together with the Bureau to strengthen cooperation in the future.
