ICHEI Visited Uzbekistan and Built Partnerships
On June 24, 2024, the 2024 High-Level Policy Dialogue in Central Asia (hereinafter referred to as the "Policy Dialogue"), initiated and co-organzied by UNESCO-ICHEI was successfully held. During the Policy Dialogue, Professor JIN Li, Director of UNESCO-ICHEI and Vice President of Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), held dialogues with representatives from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with two universities in Kazakhstan and Belarus. Besides, on June 25, the delegation of UNESCO-ICHEI led by Professor LIANG Jiansheng, Executive Deputy Director of UNESCO-ICHEI, held conversation with delegations of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of Uzbekistan, visited and had meetings with executives of Huawei Tashkent Office, as well as the sponsors of the Policy Dialogue, E-LINE PRESS and PROINFO.
Held Talks with Government Officials of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan
On June 24, during the Policy Dialogue, Professor JIN Li held a meeting with Mr. Makhatov Nursultan, Director of Digitalization Department of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, Kazakhstan. Professor JIN Li appreciated the participation of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, Kazakhstan in the Policy Dialogue. Mr. Makhatov Nursultan introduced Kazakhstan's various initiatives aimed at promoting digitalization of higher education in the country, with a focus on the development of Artificial Intelligence infrastructure and ecosystems such as the Kazakhstan Large Language Model (KazLLM) and the National Artificial Intelligence Platform. Professor JIN Li appreciated Kazakhstan's achievements in the field of digital transformation in higher education, and introduced various practices of UNESCO-ICHEI in promoting digital transformation of higher education, empowering digital teaching and management capabilities of university teachers. Both sides also discussed cooperation in the field of Artificial Intelligence among SUSTech and Shenzhen's high-tech industry such as Huawei.
On June 25, the delegation of UNESCO-ICHEI visited the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Uzbekistan. Mr. Sultanov Khurshid, Head of the Department of Implementation of ICT and Digitalization received the delegation and held a meeting. Mr. Sultanov Khurshid mentioned that the department is committed to promoting the professional development of teachers and the digitization of education. It has collaborated extensively with international organisations such as UNESCO, and industrial partners such as Huawei, in the field of information and communication technology. Professor LIANG Jiansheng introduced the achievements of the Policy Dialogue, and reviewed various project collaborations with Tashkent University of Information Technologies, the host of the IIOE Uzbekistan National Centre, including the IIOE Micro-Certification Project. Mr. Sultanov Khurshid stressed that the improvement of digital literacy of teachers is a core concern of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Uzbekistan. He will support the network of teachers' professional development centers in Uzbekistan to become part of the collaboration of UNESCO-ICHEI projects as represented by the IIOE Micro-Certification.

Signed MoU with Two Universities in Kazakhstan and Belarus
On June 24th, Professor JIN Li attended the signing ceremony of MoU among UNESCO-ICHEI, SUSTech, Kazakh National Women's Teacher Training University. At the signing ceremony, the delegation of UNESCO-ICHEI introduced UNESCO-ICHEI's mission and vision, key programmes, and reviewed the collaboration projects in Central Asia including Kazakhstan, and invited the university to participate in key programmes such as the IIOE Micro-Certification project, to assist in the digital transformation of higher education in Kazakhstan and Central Asia. Mr. Zhumakulov Zakir, Vice President (in charge of Research and International Cooperation) of Kazakhstan National Women's Teacher Training University, introduced the university's characteristics, achievements, and international cooperation, and looked forward to collaborating with UNESCO-ICHEI.

At the signing ceremony of the MOU with Minsk State Lingustic University, Professor Natalya Evgenievna Lapteva, the President, introduced the faculty and international cooperation projects of the university, hoping to promote digital teaching ability of teachers at the university and improve the digital construction, management, and governance of the university with the help of UNESCO-ICHEI. Professor JIN Li thought highly of the internationalisation of Minsk State Linguistic University and looked forward to substantial cooperation among UNESCO-ICHEI, SUSTech, and Minsk State Linguistic University in the field of digital transformation of higher education at the university and national level in Belarus.

Visited Uzbekistan-based Enterprise Partners
On June 25, led by Professor LIANG Jiansheng, the delegation of UNESCO-ICHEI visited Huawei Tashkent office and E-LINE PRESS and PROINFO LLC, local enterprises in Uzbekistan. When visiting the Huawei Tashkent office, Mr. SUN Huan, Vice President, ME CA, EBG, Huawei, extended warm welcome to the delegation of UNESCO-ICHEI, and briefly introduced the mission and major programmes of the Huawei Tashkent office. He pointed out that Huawei's Tashkent office is committed to promoting digitalization in various fields of Uzbekistan's society, cultivating young talents, and protecting the ecological environment. During the COVID-19 epidemic, Huawei Tashkent office provided technical support to Uzbekistan in fields such as distance education and medical assistance. Professor LIANG Jiansheng, Executive Deputy Director of UNESCO-ICHEI, expressed gratitude for the warm reception of Huawei Tashkent office. Both sides exchanged ideas on digitalization of higher education and expressed their expectations for future cooperation.

During UNESCO-ICHEI's visit to Uzbekistan's enterprises, Mr. Igor Kim, CEO of E-LINE PRESS, and Mr. Sherzod Mukhammadjonov, CEO of PROINFO congratulated on the successful conclusion of the Policy Dialogue. And Professor LIANG Jiansheng also appreciated the support from the two enterprises. Mr. Sherzod Mukhammadjonov introduced their company's rich experience in installing radio frequency identification (RFID) systems and providing technical support, and expressed strong interest in the flagship projects of UNESCO-ICHEI. After discussion with Professor LIANG Jiansheng, both sides reached a preliminary consensus on promoting digitalization in higher education.
