ICHEI visited the Institute of Technology at Bandung
On April 24, 2024, a delegation from the International Centre for Higher Education Innovation under the auspices of UNESCO (UNESCO-ICHEI) arrived in Indonesia. On the morning of April 24, Ms. BI Xiaohan, Deputy Director of UNESCO-ICHEI, Mr. SIT Feng, Chief of the International Institute of Online Education (IIOE) Management Centre, and Mr. WU Lintuo, Senior Programme Specialist, traveled by the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway, visited the Institute of Technology at Bandung (ITB). They held talks with the Prof. Saka Suprijadi, Deputy Rector of the ITB, Dr. Tutun Juhana, Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics, Dr. Hamonangan Situmorang, Director of the Information and Communication Laboratory, and Dr. Andika Putra Pratama, Director of the International Department.

Prof. Saka Suprijadi welcomed the UNESCO-ICHEI delegation to visit Institute of Technology at Bandung (ITB). Both sides have reviewed fruitful cooperation since the signing of the tripartite MoU in 2019 with satisfaction. UNESCO-ICHEI introduced its 2024 work plan and critical projects, such as regional high-level policy dialogues series and the IIOE micro-certification program, to ITB. Both sides jointly stated that they would continue to deepen the implementation of key projects such as IIOE micro-certificates on the basis of their original cooperation, empowering digital teaching for faculties of ITB.
After the meeting, the UNESCO-ICHEI delegation conducted an on-site inspection of the ITB Smart Classroom Project (sponsored by Createview ) and provided suggestions for improvement. According to Institute of Technology at Bandung (ITB) , since its completion, the Smart Classroom has been used by all school departments, with a high frequency of use and a clear operating schedule, and has been widely praised by faulties and students.

The Bandung Institute of Technology(ITB) was founded in 1920 and became part of the University of Indonesia in 1946. It became independent and was renamed to its current title in 1959. The institute now boasts 12 faculties, 128 educational programs, 111 research teams, and 7 research centers, with about 26,000 students and 1,510 faculty and staff members. It is among the top national technological universities in Indonesia, ranked 353rd in the 2023 QS World University Rankings and third in Indonesia. The ITB is one of the earliest partners of ICHEI. May 2018, Prof. Li Ming, founding director of UNESCO-ICHEI, led a delegation to the Bandung Institute of Technology for the unveiling of the Huawei ICT Academy. On May 2019, a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding was signed between UNESCO-ICHEI, the ITB, and the SUSTech. On October 3, 2022, Indonesia’s first smart classroom, a joint project between UNESCO-ICHEI, the Bandung Institute of Technology, the Createview Co., Ltd., and the SUSTech, was successfully inaugurated. |
