On June 5th, 2023, delegation of the International Centre for Higher Education Innovation under the auspices of UNESCO (UNESCO-ICHEI) co-organized the Smart Classroom Establishment Ceremony jointly held at Kyrgyz National University (KNU). This Smart Classroom is a joint initiative of UNESCO-ICHEI, KNU, CreateView Education Technology, and Southern University of Science and Technology.

Prof. Erlan Bazarbaev, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs of KNU, Prof. Irina Dmitrienko, Vice Rector for Innovation, Digitization, and Strategy Development of KNU, and representatives of other faculties and departments extended warm greetings to the arrival of ICHEI's delegation led by Prof. HAN Wei, Executive Deputy Director of ICHEI. Prof. Erlan Bazarbaev expressed that promoting digital transformation of education with full force is one of the foundamental strategies of KNU's development and improving teachers' digital teaching capacity is one of their top priorities, both of which are in high alignment with ICHEI's mandate and goals. He wished that the two organizations could build a long-term and effective cooperative relationship based on the Smart Classroom. Prof. HAN Wei mentioned in her speech that Smart Classroom at KNU is the 1st Smart Classroom that ICHEI jointly initiated in Central Asia and its launch will provide KNU with powerful hardware support for conducting blending learning. Meanwhile, as the top university in Kyrgyzstan, KNU's rich resources and experience in the field of digital education can be shared amid ICHEI's global partners network.

Later on, Mr. XU Mingshun, Programme Officer of ICHEI, introduced Smart Classroom Project and its strategic deployment in great detail. Representatives of both organizations discussed and exchanged ideas about the practice of Smart Classroom and staff training. After the activity, the plaque of Smart Classroom at KNU was unveiled jointly by Prof. Erlan Bazarbaev and Prof. HAN Wei which signaled the establishment of the Smart Classroom at KNU. The equipment of this Smart Classroom is now in the process of test-run and will be shipped to Port Kyrgyzstan-Almedin soon.
