ICHEI and UNESCO Beijing discuss research cooperation in East Asia

On the morning of March 17th, 2023, Mr. Robert Parua, Education Programme Specialist, UNESCO Beijing Office (UNESCO Beijing), paid a visit to the International Centre for Higher Education Innovation under the auspices of UNESCO (UNESCO-ICHEI). Professor Han Wei, Executive Deputy Director and other colleagues at UNESCO-ICHEI received the guest and discussed bilateral cooperation for 2023.

First, Ms. Fan Li, Assistant Director Chief of the Asia Pacific Programme Office, UNESCO-ICHEI, expressed her gratitude to Mr. Robert Parua and UNESCO Beijing for the long-lasting collaboration and support to UNESCO-ICHEI, and extended sincere congratulations to UNESCO Beijing for its recent upgrade from a Cluster Office to a Regional Office for East Asia. Mr. Parua spoke highly of UNESCO-ICHEI's contribution to UNESCO's global education agenda over the past six years, and introduced in detail the main projects and priorities under the Education Sector of UNESCO Beijing.
In alignment with the UNESCO HED Roadmap 2030 and “Futures of Education” initiative, the two sides expressed mutual intention to undertake joint research on higher education in East Asia. This year, by focusing on the practical experience, latest trends and common concerns of East Asian countries in the field of digital transformation of higher education, UNESCO-ICHEI and UNESCO Beijing are planning to conduct joint research and capacity building for policy-makers on future-facing higher education, driven by the integration of emerging technologies.
