UNESCO-ICHEI Invited to Launch Ceremony of UNESCO Chair on Digitalization in TVET

On 16 March 2023, the Launch Ceremony of UNESCO Chair on Digitalization in TVET SZPT-Huawei ICT Academy Support Center, as well as the Global Forum on Digital Transformation in TVET (Shenzhen) 2023, was held successfully. Professor HAN Wei, Executive Deputy Director of the International Centre for Higher Education Innovation under the auspices of UNESCO (UNESCO-ICHEI), participated in the event at the invitation of the organizer Shenzhen Polytechnic and gave a speech in the opening session.
Professor HAN Wei expressed congratulations in her speech to Shenzhen Polytechnic and Professor YANG Xinbin, Holder of UNESCO Chair on Digitalization in TVET and Party Secretary of Shenzhen Polytechnic. As a supporter for this UNESCO Chair, UNESCO-ICHEI has been involved in planning since the early days of the application. Professor HAN Wei noted that the UNESCO Chair's focus on facilitating the digital transformation of global vocational education, bridging the digital divide and promoting global sustainable development coincides with the mission of UNESCO-ICHEI. Since its establishment, UNESCO-ICHEI has been focusing on the needs of higher education digital transformation in developing countries, especially on improving the digital skills and blended teaching competency of teachers in higher education institutions.
Shenzhen Polytechnic is a key partner of UNESCO-ICHEI and one of the co-initiators of the International Institute of Online Education (IIOE), a flagship project of UNESCO-ICHEI, and has already contributed ten online digital courses to IIOE. Last May, UNESCO-ICHEI and the Institute of Education of Tsinghua University jointly carried out research on digital transformation, and compiled the Research Report on Digital Transformation of Higher Education Teaching and Learning and three Handbooks on digital transformation, in which Shenzhen Polytechnic provided two excellent cases as a reference for its global counterparts on digital transformation, working with UNESCO-ICHEI to promote the innovative development of higher education and vocational education.
In the future, UNESCO-ICHEI will continue to support the UNESCO Chair on Digitalization in TVET. Through comprehensive, in-depth and continuous cooperation, UNESCO-ICHEI and the UNESCO Chair will join hands to promote the digital transformation of global higher education and vocational education and the digital capacity building of teachers, bridge the global digital divide and contribute to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
