WHEC2022 Officially Opens in Barcelona
On 18 May, 2022, the UNESCO World Higher Education Conference (WHEC2022) officially opens in Barcelona, Spain!

The Conference brings together more than 1500 participants onsite and over 8000 online attendees, including 27 ministers, 15 deputy ministers, and around 200 rectors and vice-rectors, who have participated in 40 enriching sessions during the first day of the Conference. WHEC2022 provides a platform where global stakeholders are able to debate and share ideas and knowledge, with the aim of shaping a new path towards a sustainable and resilient future and charting a renewed vision for higher education in the next decade.

The International Centre for Higher Education Innovation under the auspices of UNESCO (UNESCO-ICHEI) and UNESCO have successfully held the UNESCO-Shenzhen Funds-in-Trust Africa Project Outcome Metting within the framework of WHEC2022 on 16 May. On 20 May, UNESCO-ICHEI, along with partner higher education institutions (HEIs) will host a roundtable around the theme of the International Institute of Online Education (IIOE), one of UNESCO-ICHEI's flagship projects. The roundtable meeting will invite global partners to map IIOE's future development plan towards a shared future of higher education digital transformation. Stay tuned for this event!
